Which tool do I actually need?

Several of these tools look similar from the outside and get opened by the wrong people every day. The four pairs that cause the most confusion are the two food checkers, the two finance calculators, the two Islamic-finance calculators, and the two travel pages. The table below maps the thing in your hand to the page that answers it.

What you have Use Why not its neighbour
A label with E-numbers on it E-Number Checker Look codes up by number; the ingredient scanner does not index codes
An ingredients list with no codes Ingredient Scanner Built for pasted prose, including gelatine, rennet and mono-and-diglycerides
A medicine leaflet or a supplement Medicine Checker Excipients and gelatine capsules, not food additives
A skincare or cosmetics label Cosmetics Checker Alcohol and animal-derived ingredients in cosmetics, not in food
A restaurant you are about to walk into Halal Restaurant Finder The question checklist is for a kitchen, not for a hotel
A hotel you are about to book Halal Hotels Covers alcohol-free policy, prayer facilities and in-room dining
A share portfolio or an ETF Halal Stock Screener Business screens plus the debt and interest ratios; a mortgage calculator is about borrowing
A bank offering to finance a home Islamic Mortgage Calculator Compares Murabaha, Ijara and diminishing Musharakah costs internally
A sukuk or an Islamic bond fund Sukuk Calculator Yield to maturity and type-specific risk, not equity screening
An estate to divide between heirs Inheritance Calculator Fixed Quranic shares; zakat is an annual obligation on the living
A marriage contract to agree Mahr Calculator Mahr is a contractual gift, not a share of an estate

Sources: each tool page names the standard it applies. The recurring ones are AAOIFI (aaoifi.com) for share screening, the EU food-additive register (food.ec.europa.eu) for E-numbers, DailyMed (dailymed.nlm.nih.gov) for medicine labelling, and IFANCA (ifanca.org) for certification marks.
