What our numbers are checked against

Every calculator here has to get its numbers from somewhere, and "somewhere" is a published standard, a government register or a certifying body — never a figure we invented. The table below names the reference each tool family follows and links to the source itself, so you can check the working instead of taking our word for it.

What the tool decides What it follows Source
Hijri dates and calendar conversions The Umm al-Qura calendar used in Saudi Arabia ummulqura.org.sa
Zakat nisab thresholds and rates AMJA fatwa rulings on zakatable wealth amjaonline.org
Shariah share screening AAOIFI Shari'ah standards — business screens plus the 5% interest-income limit aaoifi.com
Sukuk market size and issuance Industry reporting; each figure names its report beside it iifm.net
Food additive (E-number) status The EU food-additive database and register food.ec.europa.eu
Cosmetic ingredient status The EU Cosmetic Ingredient Database ec.europa.eu
Medicine ingredient data US National Library of Medicine product labelling DailyMed
Certification marks you meet on packaging The certifying bodies themselves — start with IFANCA ifanca.org

Two limits are worth stating plainly. First, the tools are calculators, not verdicts: they apply a published rule to the numbers you enter, and the answer is only as good as the input. Second, where scholars genuinely differ — the permissibility of alcohol served on the same premises, or how a mixed estate is split across madhhabs — we show both positions rather than silently choosing one, and the page says which school the default follows.

Where to start

21 tools is a lot to browse. If you arrived with a specific question, the table below takes you straight to the page that answers it; if you are new to halal labels altogether, start with the guide rather than a calculator.

Sources and standing disclaimers

The references named in the table above are the ones each tool family is built on. Where a page quotes a study, a market figure or a regulation, the page itself carries the citation beside the number and the underlying document is linked in full — every one of those links is fetched and checked when the page is written, not copied from a search result.

This site is educational information, not a religious ruling and not financial or medical advice. For a fatwa, ask a qualified scholar; for a diagnosis or a prescription, ask a doctor or pharmacist; for an investment or a mortgage, ask a licensed professional.
